A poem about my twins

I would like to tell you about my twins,
My little bundles of joy,
My little girl’s called Mia,
And Joshua is my boy.

Nine months they spent close together,
As inside my womb they grew bigger,
They wriggled and kicked and moved around,
I couldn’t believe the size of my figure!!!

My belly got so big and rounded,
My centre of gravity went,
And after a day of travelling to work,
I would get home, tired, totally spent.

I don’t think they wanted to leave my body,
38 weeks later they were still there,
They took me in hospital for a caesarean,
On 22nd May 2001, I gave birth to my pair.

It was a scary but amazing experience,
First they said “You have a boy”,
And when Mia came out second,
What luck, one of each, oh what joy!!

And now they are a year old,
For their birthday we went to the zoo,
They seemed to enjoy looking at the animals,
It was an experience that was totally new.

We have watched them change and learn so much,
They are like chalk and cheese,
Mia likes to shuffle along on her bum,
But Joshua will crawl on his knees.

They’ve developed such different characters,
They are so interesting to be around,
Mia likes to put things together,
And Joshua likes to knock them down.

They can sometimes play quite nicely,
And sometimes they fight over toys!!
Joshua just wants what everyone else has,
Boys will be boys!!!!!

And here I am going to finish
As only a year has passed
And there will be so many more things to write about
I know the future will fly by so fast!!!
